Earth Day
This is an important day for all people, but we in TESUP cherish this day especially.
From this article you will learn about Earth Day history and why do we need to celebrate it.
We know from our daily life how human activity impacts the nature. Even being a part of complicated nature system, we only recently have realized how damageable our presence on the Earth could be.
Why it concerns you?
The environmental issues directly connected to energy generation and consumption such as air pollution, climate change, water pollution, thermal pollution, and solid waste disposal. The emission of air pollutants from fossil fuel burning is the main reason of air pollution.
So every time we use electricity to charge our phones, light our home even read our emails and use internet - we unconsciously became a part of long pollution chains.
Together with industrialization growth and world globalization, the level of pollution increased dramatically.
We in TESUP always say that using clean energy is much cheaper for us now and safer future generations.
This year people worldwide will celebrate the 52nd Earth Day on April 22, 2022. The theme is Invest In Our Planet.
But let’s take a look, how did we started to celebrate it?
During the 1960s, Senator Nelson paid attention and increasingly excited about the condition of the environment and the lack of governmental control and protection there. A plant or a factory could drop their toxic waste into the lake and there was nothing illegal about it. Strange, is not it?

That is why he was so concerned and hired Harvard law student and activist Denis Hayes to help arrange a national day dedicated ti the environment.
There have been launched many of informal lectures and discussions on a subject of environmental protection.
On April 22, 1970 the first Earth Day was held. More than 20 million Americans visited the lectures and other events.
As a result, the Environmental Protection Agency was established, and the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts were signed. Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22nd every year since 1970. In 1995, Gaylord Nelson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his environmental work.
All these actions brought us to clear vision on our daily routine and forced world leaders to shift their attention to growing environmental problems.
For example, on Earth Day 2016, 174 countries and the European Union signed the Paris Agreement at the opening ceremony at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Conference of Parties is an international political response to climate change which began in 1992. COP21, also known as the Paris Climate Conference, brought parties together to achieve a universal goal on climate: keeping global warming below 2° C. All these happened thanks to Senator Nelson, the father of Earth Day.
As it was said before, the major pollution are coming from electricity generation.
So what we can do here?
Wind turbines do not create emissions that can pollute the air or water, and they do not need water cooling process. Wind turbines may also lower the fossil fuels electricity generation, which will lead to lower total air pollution and carbon dioxide emissions.
Generating energy with wind turbines has less effects on the planet than many other evergy sources.
